West Brom defender Kieran Gibbs has been identified a target for Fenerbahce, according to Fanatik.

The report says that Fenerbahce's sporting director Damien Comolli has pinpointed Gibbs as a candidate to replace Ismail Koybasi who has left the club.

The Turkish giants are preparing to launch a bid for the former Arsenal defender later this week, with West Brom reported to be requesting €3.5million for his services according to the reports.

Fenerbahce are also thought to be willing to pay Gibbs €2million a year in order to lure the 29-year-old to Turkey, as they look to build a squad capable of bettering their sixth-placed finish last term.

They have also reportedly targeted Premier League defenders Alberto Moreno and Nacho Monreal as possible solutions to their left-back conundrum.

Gibbs was a regular feature for West Brom last season, making 36 appearances as the Baggies secured a fourth-placed finish in the Championship before suffering penalty heartbreak against Aston Villa in the play-offs.

The Verdict

Gibbs was a top performer for West Brom last season, but they will find it hard to keep him after their failure to win promotion.

The Baggies recent failure to afford Dwight Gayler or Slavisa Jokanovic also suggests the Midlands club is short on funds, so this deal could help towards easing this concern.

However, I'm not convinced that this move will appeal to Gibbs much, as I think he will still want to try his hand back in the Premier League.
