Birmingham City secured their Championship safety with an impressive comeback win against Rotherham and the focus for Garry Monk will now switch to next season.

Blues have endured a very tough month or so, with a nine-point deduction forcing them to nervously look over their shoulder as they feared relegation.

But, they can plan ahead now and Monk will hope that he can bring in some more quality to help the team moving forward.

And, one player they have been linked with in the past is Peterborough's Marcus Maddison, who has been flying recently.

The 25-year-old was frozen out earlier in the campaign after doubts about his future but he remained with the League One side and has scored seven goals in his last nine games.

Yet, speculation will continue about a transfer in the summer and Posh owner Darragh MacAnthony responded to a fan who suggested he will end up at St. Andrew's with this cryptic message on twitter.

Maddison is approaching the final 12 months of his contract at London Road so could be set for a move.

The Verdict

It will be interesting to see what happens with Maddison as he clearly has a lot of quality and will feel as though he can make a big impact in the Championship.

As well as that, he seems the exact sort of player that Blues should be targeting as they need another creative spark that could make the difference in the final third.

You probably shouldn't read too much into MacAnthony's tweet, althought it would be a surprise if the player is still with Peterborough next season.
