Olympiacos have been offered the chance to sign Aston Villa winger Anwar El Ghazi in the summer, according to Greek media outlet SDNA.

The 24-year old has turned into a real star under Dean Smith, since joining Villa on loan from Lille in the summer, scoring five goals and producing six assists for the West Midlands side.

The winger has since attracted interest from the Premier League, with a return to parent club Lille looking very slim if reports are to be believed.

But reports have now emerged, claiming that El Ghazi's agent Jorge Mendes has offered Olympiacos the chance to sign the winger in the summer.

The Greek club have been linked with Manchester United winger Tahith Chong, as they look to get revenge on PAOK after losing the Greek Super League title, with El Ghazi potentially on their radar.

It is believed that there is a buy-out clause in El Ghazi's contract at Lille, which doesn't run out until 2021, but Villa may well be looking at the prospect of signing the winger for good next season, if they win promotion to the Premier League.

Smith's side face Derby County in the Sky Bet Championship play-off final next Monday.

The Verdict

This is a big blow for Aston Villa if El Ghazi does go and sign for Olympiacos.

He had a tricky first half of the season, but has really stepped up when it matters under Dean Smith, and he is now one of their most important players.

Mendes is looking out for his client, and you can't blame him for wanting to get him a move if they are going to offer more money - it's just football nowadays.
