Spanish Segunda side Real Zaragoza are interested in signing Swansea City forward Borja Baston this summer, according to reports from Spanish media outlet AS.

The 26-year-old has endured a truly forgettable spell at the Liberty Stadium since becoming the club's record signing in 2016 - the forward arrived for a reported fee of £15.5million.

The Spaniard has scored just one goal in a total of 20 appearances since his move from Atletico Madrid, and has been sent out on loan twice in the last two years.

His most recent loan spell came with Alaves, where he scored five goals in 29 appearances last season, and another move looks likely for the striker this summer.

Reports from Spain claim that Zaragoza are interested in signing Baston this summer, with the player understood to be keen to leave the Liberty Stadium for good.

Baston only has one year left on his current deal at the Liberty Stadium, but it remains to be seen whether another loan move is in the offing for the forward.

Swansea have already lost two key figures in Dan James and Graham Potter to Manchester United and Brighton respectively this summer, but the departure of Baston will not be as huge as the other two to say the least.

The Verdict

Plenty of Swansea fans will have probably forgot that Baston was still on the club's books, which shows just how much of a flop this signing has turned out to be.

It's clearly best for both parties if he were to leave this summer, as he just doesn't want to be there it seems.

If they can get even if a snippet of what they paid for him this summer, then that would be acceptable.
