Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has backed reported Red Devils target Dan James to make the step-up to the Premier League, according to Sky Sports News

The outlet have previously reported that a £15million deal is set to go through between Swansea City and United in the summer and Giggs, who gave James his international debut for Wales this season, thinks he can make the step-up from the Championship.

"He was fantastic in the last six months for Swansea, putting in devastating performances and I think he can play at any level.

"He could play in the Premier League, but if he stays at Swansea for another year or two years I'd be equally as happy because he's done so well there.

"That's a decision for Dan to make and I'm sure he'll make the right decision."

James scored four goals and assisted nine more in what was a breakthrough season for the 21-year-old in the Championship, catching the attention of many clubs along the way.

He made his Wales debut back in November in a friendly against Albania before he notched his first goal at the Cardiff City Stadium against Slovakia in March.

James almost moved to Leeds United back in the January transfer window, only for the Swans to pull out of the deal right at the last minute.

The verdict

I completely agree with Giggs here.

James has shown just how much talent he has this season and his electric pace would cause serious problems against any defence in the world.

I fancy him to seriously shine if his move to United does go through.
