Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Joe Lumley could be set for an extended spell on loan at Doncaster Rovers until at least January with Darren Moore indicating that's what he wants to do.

The stopper, along with Liam Kelly, has seen Seny Dieng emerge as the Hoops' no. 1 'keeper this season in the Sky Bet Championship after neither could nail down that spot last year.

Lumley, then, has been out on loan to Gillingham on an emergency deal and, most recently, Doncaster and it appears as though he could be staying there for a little while longer than the initial seven days.

The Doncaster Free Press is reporting that QPR have agreed in principle for that to happen and Moore, when asked about it, suggested it was something he and the club were looking at via the same outlet:

“It’s a seven-day loan so it made him eligible for Sunderland and makes him eligible for Blackpool on Tuesday.

“We’ll be straight onto it, trying to sort it out. Where it will lead us, we don’t know.

“We’ve got some time because he’s eligible for Tuesday before we have to look towards the cup game at the weekend.”

The Verdict

It's a perfect opportunity for Lumley to show what he can do if he does stay at Doncaster for a little longer as, despite it being a short time until January, there are a lot of games to get through and he'll be aiming to impress.

The deal lasts past the Blackpool game this week but then it will need to be renewed so it seems safe to assume we'll get further news on this one later on in the week.
