Nottingham Forest have announced via their official site that defender Eric Lichaj has agreed a new one-year deal with the club.

The 29-year-old caps off an excellent week with a new deal, having shot to national fame following his two goal salvo as Forest shocked Arsenal to proceed to the fourth round of the FA Cup.

The full-back’s second goal was sublime, with the American international finding the far corner with a sensational volley to leave goalkeeper David Ospina with absolutely no chance.

The former Aston Villa man had given Forest a lead earlier in the game with a header from a Kieran Dowell free-kick, and will hope to continue his fine form when the Reds face Lichaj’s former side this evening at the City Ground.

Fans took to Twitter to have their say on the defender’s new deal, with many in jubilant mood having seen the popular star commit his future to the club for another season…
