When it rains in Birmingham it seemingly pours as Aitor Karanka's side slipped to another defeat at home - this time at the hands of Blackburn Rovers.

The Spaniard made seven changes to his starting line-up in a bid to banish the ghosts of the most recent 4-0 drubbing at the hands of Derby County.

But whatever Karanka tries to do, he seemingly fails and his side drew a blank yet again in-front of goal.

To be fair, most defences in the league would struggle to stop Adam Armstrong, and even though the Geordie had only bagged once in his last seven outings, he was given the perfect opportunity after being supplied by Liverpool loanee Harvey Elliott.

Armstrong duly obliged in the 10th minute, and whilst the Blues pushed for an equaliser in the second half, it never came and they were punished in the most brutal fashion thanks to Bradley Dack's first goal in over a year in the 92nd minute.

When Birmingham were looking for a way back into the contest in the final quarter of the game, Karanka decided to bring on striker Scott Hogan and holding midfielder Adam Clayton.

The latter substitute caused great confusion amongst Blues fans, many of whom clearly do not rate Clayton one bit but there was also the fact that winger Jeremie Bela was still sitting on the bench - which is where he remained.

Birmingham supporters were incredulous at the decision, and they couldn't help but think that Karanka had lost the plot - take a look at some of their reactions on social media.
