Aston Villa have been on the search for a new manager for a week now after the sacking of Steve Bruce.

The former boss was removed from his post having lost a two-goal lead at home to the then bottom of the division Preston before snatching a last-minute point against the Championship strugglers.

Less than 24-hours after the draw, the club announced the departure of Bruce.

Since then it seems like any and all contenders have been linked with the job with Thierry Henry, Dean Smith, Paulo Fonseca and John Terry all being thrust into the role ahead of time.

Another name that is in the frame is Jose Mourinho’s former assistant Rui Faria.

The Portuguese coach left his role at Old Trafford to move into first-team management for himself.

And according to the Telegraph, he is a leading contender for the role.

Having not managed before he is a novice in that respect, but boasts extensive experience as a football coach at various high-high-profile clubs.

We here at FLW took to Twitter to poll the Aston Vill fans to see if they would be happy with Faria as their new manager.

It was a pretty close contest for and against the potential appointment of the former Real Madrid and Inter Milan assistant.

A narrow majority of 51 per cent of Villa fans polled felt that Faria would represent a poor appointment and they would not welcome him as the club’s new manager.

This could be down to the lack of experience he has as a manger, despite his wealth of knowledge as a top-tier coach.

Other reasons could be that they would simply prefer another candidate to be at the helm once the club decide.

Conversely, 49 per cent of the Villa fans voted in the opinion that they would be happy with the Portuguese coach as their new manager.

It would be a bold move should be be appointed but it is a fresh name and not one form the managerial merry-go-round that is so conveniently used by clubs these days.
