Close call: Hull City star edges battle of dangerous attackers against Nottingham Forest

Hull City jumped out of the Championship relegation zone with an impressive 2-0 away win against Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon.

Nigel Adkins’ men found themselves in the bottom three going into the weekend action but secured a fairly comfortable win at the City Ground – even despite Jon Toral’s early penalty miss – to move themselves within six points of Aitor Karanka’s charges.

Toral redeemed himself almost instantly for his spot-kick miss, nodding home from the resulting corner, before Liverpool loanee Harry Wilson netted his first senior goal with a tap-in at the far post.

The match saw two promising English talents face off against each other – Forest’s Kieran Dowell and 12-goal Hull starlet Jarrod Bowen – and we’ve run the numbers to see how they measured up against each other on Saturday.

There was nothing to split them in four categories – assists, key passes, aerial duels won, and they both lasted the whole game – and Dowell made one more pass, with a marginally better success rate.

Where Bowen won out was in the shot count, three against one, and that means he just shaded the battle.
