The future of Norwich City midfielder Emi Buendia remains ‘up in the air’ heading into the second full week of the January transfer window.
Buendia has caught the eye with a number of impressive performances for Daniel Farke’s side this term, as they challenge for promotion into the Premier League.
The Argentine has chipped in with seven goals and seven assists in his 20 appearances for the Canaries in all competition, but it appears as though that hasn’t gone unnoticed.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano had recently revealed in an interview with Give Me Sport that Arsenal had been in contact with Norwich over a potential move for the midfielder.
Speaking in an interview with Football Insider, former Arsenal forward Kevin Campbell reacted to this update, and highlighted the attributes that Buendia would bring to Mikel Arteta’s side.
“I think he would be a very clever signing.
“I like him. He has the qualities that Mikel Arteta is looking for in a player. Not only can he pick a pass, he can score and he works hard. He has that energy which has been missing from the team for long periods of this season.”
Campbell went on to admit that he would expect Buendia to want to join Arsenal before the January transfer window reached a conclusion.
“I think there is some really good players in the Championship and Buendia is one of them. He would fit what Arteta wants to do perfectly.
“I know Norwich will be desperate to keep him but this is Arsenal and business is business. I am sure Buendia would want to join Arsenal, that is for sure.”
Buendia and his Norwich City team-mates are set to return to action at the weekend, when they take on Cardiff City, in what could potentially be a tricky test for Daniel Farke’s side.

I have to agree with Campbell here.
Buendia has been very impressive with Norwich City this season, and he’s played a starring role in their strong start to this year’s campaign.
I’m not surprised to hear that a club like Arsenal are interested in landing his signature, as the Gunners could certainly benefit from having strength in depth in their team going forward.
It’ll be interesting to see whether the Gunners are to submit a formal offer for the Argentine, with Valencia being another side that are keen to sign Buendia.
