Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa has praised Pablo Hernandez, as the attacking midfielder gears up for a return to Swansea City tonight.

The Spaniard was an important player for the Whites last season, however, like many, his game appears to have gone up a level under Bielsa.

The former Marseille coach demands fast, attacking football, with a focus on retaining possession and keeping the ball on the floor.

That has benefitted Hernandez a lot, with the 33-year-old a technically gifted player that is flourishing in this new system.

He has been crucial in the Yorkshire club picking up maximum points from their first three games, with Bielsa recognising his contribution.

"He has been a regular so far. He's been constant. His performances have always been positive, and [they] have been increasing each week," he told the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Hernandez is likely to be key again as Leeds travel to Swansea tonight, a club that he spent two years at, playing over 70 games when they were in the top-flight.

The Verdict

You can't disagree with Bielsa, as Hernandez has been an important player so far this season, thriving in the attacking style that Leeds play with.

Given his age, he may need to be managed carefully as the season progresses with the games coming thick and fast, but he will still be an important figure.

Now though, he will be concentrating on Swansea and will want to put in a positive display against his former club.
