‘Classic Reading FC transfer window’ – Reading fans react to latest transfer speculation

Published

on

Reading began their 2017/18 Championship campaign in disappointing fashion after going down 2-0 at Queens Park Rangers on the opening weekend of the season.

Jaap Stam’s men lost to Huddersfield Town in the play-off final at Wembley back in May to keep them waiting for a return to the Premier League, and their quest to go one better this time round hasn’t got off to the best of starts.

The Royals lost out to a Conor Washington brace at Loftus Road on Saturday, although they did bounce back with victory over Gillingham in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night, which will likely give Reading fans greater confidence going into their side’s clash with Fulham on Saturday.

However, the club may well have been dealt a blow in the transfer window in recent days, as reports suggest that target Lewis Baker is likely to end up at Garry Monk’s Middlesbrough.

The 22-year-old is on the books at Premier League champions Chelsea, but like so many youngsters at Stamford Bridge, has yet to appear for the first team, and looks set to go out on loan once again this season.

And Reading are reportedly one side interested in the England Under-21 international, but recent reports suggest that Boro is the likely destination for the midfielder.

And such news has stimulated quite a response from Reading supporters on Twitter, with many disappointed that the club are set to come up short in the Baker chase…
