Leeds United have wished defender Barry Douglas happy birthday on Twitter and the announcement has drawn a mixed reaction from fans of the club.

Douglas featured in the first three games of the season for the Whites but has lost his place in the starting XI after dropping out of the side due to injury.

Ezgjan Alioski has started the Whites' last three Championship games in place of the 30-year-old at left-back.

Douglas joined from Wolverhampton Wanderers for a reported fee of £3 million last summer and signed a three-year deal at Elland Road.

Since then he has seen his time at the club hampered by injuries, making just 30 appearances in total.

It is understandable that Whites fans may feel frustrated that they have not seen the best of the left-back yet as he contributed five goals and 15 assists in his singular season at Wolves but has provided no goals and just five assists in total for his current club.

Douglas’ birthday seems to have drawn a split reaction from fans of the Yorkshire club, with some congratulating him and others airing their frustration over his lack of impact.
