Sean Maguire netted his first goal of the new season yesterday evening, scoring the club's third goal against Cheltenham Town to ensure a place in the fourth round.

The Lilywhites ended up 4-1 winners at Deepdale against their League One opposition, with Emil Riis, Joe Rafferty, and Andrew Hughes all finding the back of the net.

Yesterday's goal was Maguire's first of the calendar year, and he will be hoping to use that to return to form in the league.

Despite not starting the game, the 27-year-old was substituted in after just seven minutes, following an injury to new signing Connor Wickham.

Joining Preston from Cork City in 2017, Maguire has proceeded to score 23 times and assist a further 17 in 139 appearances for The Lilywhites.

The 27-year-old started his career with Waterford United in the Republic of Ireland, before joining West Ham United in 2013.
