Hamburg forward Pierre-Michel Lasogga has flown in for talks with Leeds United over a potential switch to Elland Road, according to Phil Hay of The Yorkshire Evening Post on Twitter.

The 25-year-old forward has been a target of boss Thomas Christiansen for several weeks, and it appears a move to England is beginning to gain momentum.

Beginning his career with Bayer Leverkusen’s reserves, Lasogga moved on to Hertha Berlin, before settling at Hamburg in 2014.

The big forward has an impressive record with the Bundesliga side, amassing a respectable 26 goals in only 96 league games.

Phil Hay reports that Leeds are looking to complete a loan deal for the player, with Hamburg funding a portion of Lasogga's wages, giving the Whites a year to decide whether to make a permanent move for the former German U21 international.

Standing at 6 ft 2 in, Lasogga is a big, imposing figure, and his frame and stature should make him an ideal candidate to replace Chris Wood at the club this summer.
