Duane Holmes made his full debut for Derby County yesterday, playing an integral part in their fine 3-1 victory against Birmingham City.

The 23-year old was a summer capture from League One side Scunthorpe United, but his only previous league outing for the Rams came as a late sub in September against Rotherham.

However, he started yesterday's game and played 89 minutes as they moved up to fourth with a fine win, turning in the sort of performance that gets fans purring.

That is exactly what happened after the game, with a number of Derby supporters taking to Twitter to talk about his full debut.

Playing in the absence of on-loan Chelsea player Mason Mount, Holmes looked more than capable of filling the huge gap left by the new England man. He was dynamic, industrious and as one fan put it, 'quality' in the Mount role.

He is the second League One recruit to emerge at Derby in recent weeks, with Jack Marriott getting his chance and taking it also.

It points to clever man management by rookie manager Frank Lampard, which was just one of the observations made by the supporters we've sampled below...
