Having already secured the services of Filip Krovinovic and Kenneth Zohore for the upcoming campaign, West Bromwich Albion are now closing in on signing central defender Semi Ajayi from Rotherham United.

According to Express and Star journalist Matt Wilson, the Baggies have had a bid for the 25-year-old accepted by the Millers.

Although West Brom have reportedly paid £1.5m up-front for Ajayi, the add-on fees as of yet have not been revealed.

One of the only shining lights for Rotherham last season, Ajayi made 49 appearances in all competitions, producing a number of outstanding performances for Paul Warne's side both as a defender and as a midfielder.

Yet despite being individually impressive, Ajayi was unable to prevent the Millers from being relegated in May to League One and has since been the subject of considerable interest throughout the summer from a number of Championship sides.

With boss Slaven Bilic closing in on a deal which will see the Nigerian international move to the Hawthorns, plenty of West Brom supporters took to Twitter to react to the news.

Here are some of the best responses to the transfer update...

Having seen Craig Dawson leave the club earlier this month to join Premier League side Watford, the Baggies needed to secure a replacement for the 29-year-old and thus swooping for Ajayi makes perfect sense as he will be able to provide the likes of Ahmed Hegazi and Kyle Bartley with some much-needed competition next season.
