Birmingham City's miserable run of form continued last night with a defeat against local rivals West Bromwich Albion.

The Blues had a torrid run of results following the first international break of the season, winning just one of their six Championship matches and that came at home to Derby County.

After a promising start to the season, Lee Bowyer's side have started to slide down the table and despite making changes to his line-up for the trip to The Hawthorns, it didn't stop the run of winless results.

Bowyer dropped the likes of Harlee Dean and Jeremie Bela with Dion Sanderson and George Friend coming into the side and they held out for 75 minutes despite not having too much of the ball in possession.

However it was Karlan Grant who delivered the hammer blow with a quarter of an hour remaining with a strike from the edge of the box beating Matija Sarkic in-between the sticks.

It was another disappointing evening for Birmingham but the performance of Sanderson in particular was praised by fans.

The defender is on loan from Wolves and had to wait for his chance after not fully recovering from a back injury before the start of the season, and despite being on the losing side he was praised on social media for his efforts.
