Daniel Stendel has

/B3Wu1U7ohqG/">thanked Barnsley fans on Instagram after parting ways with the club, which has drawn an emotional response from many Reds fans.

The club announced today that they had separated from the German coach with immediate effect and that Adam Murray would step up as caretaker manager.

Stendel joined the Tykes last summer and sealed automatic promotion from League One in his first season in charge.

However, the 45-year-old has had a rocky start to life in the Championship. After beating Brentford on the opening weekend, Barnsley have failed to win in their last 10 league games and slipped to 23rd in the table.

The blame for the poor start certainly doesn’t lie wholly at his door as a number of his key players were sold in the summer.

The news was announced this morning and Stendel broke his silence on Instagram, sending a message of thanks to Barnsley fans.

The German’s message has been well received by many Tykes fans, with some sending him emotional responses.
