Quoted by MOT Leeds, former goalkeeper Paul Robinson has revealed that he thinks Leeds United could have an advantage over Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United in the potential transfer race for Robin Koch.

The summer transfer window could be an important one for all three clubs - depending on when it opens and what situation the three find themselves in.

Spurs will want Jose Mourinho to put his stamp on things, West Ham will want to improve after a tough season and Leeds will be aiming to re-establish themselves in the Premier League.

For Robinson, then, the signing of Koch could be a good one for the Whites, and he feels Marcelo Bielsa's presence could help them in their potential bid to bring him in.

He said:

“I’ve seen him play. He’s got a couple of caps for Germany last year.

“He’s highly rated and a top player and if they’re talking about £10m for him it’s a very good price.

“I think Leeds will have competition, I think West Ham and Tottenham will look at him. But Leeds have an advantage. Okay, they might not be able to compete with Tottenham in terms of quality of squad, finances or wages they’d pay, but they’ve got Bielsa which is a huge pull."

The Verdict

There can be no doubt that the Whites will be able to attract some good players if they are back in the Premier League with Bielsa in charge, but they still need to earn promotion first.

What happens in terms of that, then, remains to be seen, though the intention does remain for campaigns to be played to a finish in this country.
