A number of Derby County fans have been left bemused after Wayne Rooney admitted to the media following the Rams’ 1-1 draw at home to Wycombe Wanderers that Steve McClaren went into the dressing room to speak to the players at half time.

Rooney had been tasked with leading the Rams for their vital six-pointer against Wycombe on Saturday, and England’s record goal scorer has suggested he could well have played his last match for the club if he continues with managerial duties. He could not guide Derby to a much-needed win in his first game in full charge.

McClaren re-joined the Rams last week in a technical director, with some suggestions being muted that he could be in line for the manager's job once the potential takeover of the club is completed. The former England man has already had two spells in charge of Derby and could play a key role over the next few weeks until a permanent boss is named.

McClaren? Clement? Who was the Derby County manager when each of these 15 Rams moments happened?

Derby found themselves in the rare position of leading at half time with Duane Holmes having given them the lead on 36 minutes, so Rooney’s admission to the media after the game that McClaren spoke to the players at half time is something of a surprise. Those words did not make the best impact as they squandered the lead late on and had to settle for a point.

Many Derby fans were quick to point out how confusing having two managers in the dressing must have been for the players, with some suggesting that if McClaren is going to be that much involved he may as well be manager.

Here then, we take a look at some reactions from Derby fans on social media…
