The verdict

Aneke’s message here shows that he was more than happy to have attracted the attention of Birmingham this summer and given the links with Bowyer it was perhaps obvious that the Blues would be a major attraction for him this summer. The forward seems to be a very astute pick-up by the club especially considering it is on a free transfer.

The 27-year-old will have something to prove considering his lack of Championship experience, but having fired in 15 goals in League One last term there is no reason to suggest he will not be able to make that step-up to the English second tier. While Bowyer already knows exactly how to get the best out of him so that should make settling in a lot easier for him.

The Blues have been needing to add firepower to their squad after struggling to score enough goals last term and this is a signing that does rectify some of those issues. If the Blues can create him chances and offer him the right service then you expect Aneke is capable of at least reaching double figures for goals in the Championship.
