Thomas Christiansen has admitted that he has warned his Leeds United squad over their discipline, with his squad building up with suspensions across the board, as reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post’s, Phil Hay.

Samuel Saiz was sent-off in Leeds’ FA Cup defeat to Newport County, and was subsequently handed a six-match ban, which is set to run into next month, whilst last weekend, Eunan O’Kane was dismissed at Ipswich Town following a headbutt in the first-half.

O’Kane is set to serve the first game of his three-match ban this weekend, whilst Kalvin Phillips is also walking a tightrope, as he edges towards a two-match ban following a run of yellow card offences.

Christiansen has admitted he has spoken to the squad as a whole, whilst also speaking to individuals over their discipline, as his options at Elland Road become stretched heading into a crucial period.

Last weekend’s defeat to Ipswich cost Leeds their place in the top-six, with Christiansen’s side sliding down to seventh in the table, albeit trailing Sheffield United on just goal difference.

The Whites face Millwall at Elland Road tomorrow, with Christiansen hopeful his side can pick up their first victory since Boxing Day.

The Verdict

Leeds’ discipline has become a problem, with the Whites often shooting themselves in the foot this season with red cards and needless cautions.

Christiansen obviously feels it is enough of a problem to make his conversations public, and the club’s supporters will be pleased to hear that their boss is looking to address a problem area.

In the coming weeks, Leeds can’t afford to lose too many more to suspension.
