Second-season syndrome might be on the minds of some at Sheffield United but you can bet Chris Wilder won't be having any of that.

The Blades arrived back in the Championship with style as they pushed all the way for promotion and narrowly missed out.

Some, then, might be worried that added expectation in 2018/19 could actually impede the club's progression but Wilder will be looking to ensure no such decline takes place.

Indeed, he'll be looking to only strengthen his squad this summer for another go at the top six and his latest transfer update - via Jonathan Buchan - should make for pleasing reading if you're a Blade:

The club, then, is making moves to get new faces in whilst they are also in a position where they do not need to sell unless silly money comes in.

Finally, David Brooks seems settled despite all the speculation and so, arguably, this news couldn't get much better.

The Verdict

The Blades are looking good to keep their key men this summer and now all they need to do is add in the right areas.

A top six place isn't out of the question for the men from Bramall Lane next season - especially with this news in mind.
