Since solidifying a long-awaited return to the Championship, it has become an eventful summer at Bramall Lane as Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder aims to keep the Blades in the second-tier.

It will surely be a tough ask to retain their status in the division but it should come down to quality and strength in depth, which is exactly what the squad has bar one or two positions.

They may have acquired Enda Stevens services from Portsmouth but, in my opinion, the left-back position is still fairly weak and to avoid being vulnerable down the flank then Wilder has to make Luke Garbutt a loan signing this window.

The Everton defender has suffered several set-backs in his career, although he never really got going during a spell at Wigan Athletic last term; featuring on eight occasions in the first-half of the campaign before returning to Goodison Park.

Garbutt, 24, would be hoping to get his career underway at Everton this upcoming season but his employer thinks otherwise and the only way to develop would be a stint away from the club.

He does obtain vital experience across the Football League having enjoyed loans at Cheltenham Town, Colchester United and prior to Wigan Athletic he was at fellow Championship outfit Fulham.

At his age, Luke Garbutt is surely geared up enough and has the capability of lasting an entire campaign which is what Sheffield United demand and Chris Wilder would surely not regret making him his first-choice left-back.

Sheffield United supporters, does left-back need strengthening? Is Luke Garbutt ideal for your squad? Would he even start ahead of Stevens? Let us get your thoughts in the comment section below!
