Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder has stoked the fire further between his Blades side and promotion rivals Leeds ahead of their respective Easter Monday games.

Wilder, who saw his team move back above Leeds into second on Good Friday, was speaking to the Sheffield Star and made the bold claim that most of the media do indeed want to see Leeds promoted ahead of his own team come the end of the campaign.

The Blades boss was responding when asked if he thought there was an opinion in the national media that seemed to favour Leeds over his Blades side, and Wilder responded emphatically.

"One hundred per cent, of course there is. You can't do anything about that. This season isn't finished yet, though. When it is, that's the time to hand out plaudits. Or when it's mathematically done. But it isn't, is it. It isn't done with three games to go." Wilder said.

United are looking to turn the screw on rivals Leeds with another win, after seeing the Whites lose out to Wigan on Friday while they saw off Nottingham Forest at Bramall Lane in a crucial win.

And Wilder went further with his comments, insisting he is not after plaudtis, and is happy to wait till the end of the season to either take the praise or offer his congratulations to a fellow manager.

"I'll be the first on the phone to someone if they do it (get promoted). Plaudits for me come at the end of the season and there's still a bit of football to be played." Wilder added.

The Verdict

This is 100% a bit of mindgames from Wilder on this occasion.

He will be hoping to pile the pressure on Leeds, while building a seige mentality within his own squad.

United have a tough ask winning at Hull who have a superb home record, but if there is one team in the Championship who can break that unbeaten run, it's Wilder's Blades.
