Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder has told his players that they are right to dream about what could happen this season after their fantastic start.
The Blades head into the international break in third position and have played some superb football in recent weeks.
As a newly-promoted side, the aim is often to consolidate, but the ambitious Wilder is having none of that.
“Why shouldn’t they have that belief? They are producing genuinely good performances. They are making names for themselves both individually and as a team,” the lifelong fans said to the Sheffield Star.
However, he wouldn’t be drawn on setting a specific aim for his squad.
“We’re not going to be setting any targets. We are just going to go at it every single game, with the handbrake off. That’s the way we are and that’s what we’ll carry on doing. These lads are willing to go right until the very end.”
Defeat last time out at Nottingham Forest won’t be enough to dampen the optimism that has built up at Bramall Lane over the previous months.
Next up, Ipswich Town will be making the trip to Yorkshire to take on Wilder’s men.
We’ve seen many teams surprise us in the Championship over the years, so there’s no reason why Sheffield United should be fearful given the start they’ve made.
Of course, there’s a long season ahead but they’ve shown they are more than capable of competing with anyone in the league.
There’s clearly a real feel-good factor going on at the club and Blades fans will be excited to see how far it can take them.
