The Sheffield United academy is one of the most revered in the entire football league, and is well renowned for producing top talent.

Over the years, we have seen England internationals like Kyle Walker and Phil Jagielka come through the ranks at Bramall Lane, while solid professionals like Nick Montgomery, Kyle Naughton, and Billy Sharp have also broke through.

Things have shown no sign of slowing down on the production line at Bramall Lane though, and the academy has become an integral part of the culture at the club.

New manager Chris Wilder has already said he wants to utilise the academy as best he can, and it will be key for the Blades they get the best out of any quality youngsters they have next term.

Ben Whiteman

Whiteman broke into the team towards the end of last season and showed glimpses of the quality which have made him such a standout player for the under-21s.

Capable of playing across the midfield but more adept in a central role, many are tipping Whiteman to be a key man next season for Wilder.

He already looks a well built athlete, which teamed with his clear on ball ability makes him a threat. If he can start the season well, his confidence should climb and the Blades may well have unearthed another gem.

Louis Reed

The tiny midfielder has been on the scene for a few seasons now after being given his debut by Nigel Clough, but remarkably is still only 18.

The England youth international is highly thought of down at Bramall Lane, and next year could be the season he really lays a marker down on the first team.

He did not look out of place against Tottenham the season before last in the cup, when he competed well with Dembele and Eriksen in the middle, and he should develop into a top quality player.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin

One player who will be expected to flourish under Chris Wilder is Calvert-Lewin, following a loan spell with Northampton under Wilder last year.

The big striker looks ready made to be a quality centre forward, although he has yet to find the net in his sporadic appearances for the club so far.

There is a confidence though that the goals will come, and he is another player who will be looking for a fast start to the season in the hope that the goals start flowing.
