More than a week has now passed since Sheffield United lifted the League One trophy, therefore after a week of non-stop celebrations, Blades boss Chris Wilder must now start to look into the transfer market and scout who could possibly enhance his already dominant side.

Wilder's success this campaign, first spurred from his change in tactics, when he chose to implement the three at the back formation.

Having three centre backs in front of keeper Simon Moore has proven to provide a lot more cover than a four at the back formation, but United have also benefitted moving forward as well.

Jake Wright, Chris Basham and Jack O'Connell have been Wilder's preferred three this campaign, and with Ethan Ebanks-Landell returning to Wolves from his loan spell and cover defender James Wilson being put on the transfer list, Wilder's back three will certainly need some extra cover.

Fleetwood's Cian Bolger would be a perfect fit either to start in United's defence, or to provide some much needed protection for if anything was to happen to Wilder's preferred three.

The 25-year-old has provided solidarity in Fleetwood's defence this season, and has been a major influence behind the Reds having the second best defensive record in League One behind Bolton.

Not only that, Bolger has won Fleetwood's player of the season ahead of the likes of Conor McLaughlin and Amari'i Bell who are notable fan favourites.

The Irish defender has also scored five league goals this campaign, which shows his dominance in both boxes, similar to United's fan favourite Jack O'Connell.

With him only being 25 years of age, he still has plenty of time to grow and adapt as a centre-half, and with the likes of Basham and Wright under contract at Bramall Lane, Bolger has many dominant centre-halves to learn from.

Fleetwood have recently just lost in their League One play-off semi-final against Bradford, meaning another year in England's third tier is imminent.

Therefore, surely Bolger would be eager to sign for United who will be the league above and most definitely be able to offer a bigger contract than Fleetwood.

Blades fans...What do you think? Would you be happy with the signing of Bolger? Can you think of any other alternatives you'd prefer? Let us know in the comments below!
