Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder has spoken to the Sheffield Star and admitted that it was out of his hands in terms of completing some deals on deadline day.

The Blades are set to sign Oliver Norwood from Brighton, but Wilder admitted that there was an issue on deadline day in terms of getting deals like that done, with the Blades boss highlighting that Premier League clubs had bigger fish to fry and sorting out a loan move for one of their squad players.

"With all due respect to ourselves and all the other Championship or EFL (English Football League) sides, I don't think loaning someone to Sheffield United was probably the biggest priority for a lot of the people up there." he said.

"They were, quite understandably, more concerned with trying to get their own business done before the deadline. That slowed things down and made some of the things we were working on difficult to force through in time."

However, the deal for Norwood is set to be completed in the coming days as Wilder moves to strengthen his squad after allowing midfielder Lee Evans to leave for Wigan this weekend.

The Blades got their season up and running yesterday with a 2-1 win at QPR after suffering consecutive losses to both Swansea and Middlesbrough.
