Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder has once again reiterated his desire to not change the club's identity as they prepare for their return to Premier League football.

Speaking to Chris Kamara and Ben Shepherd on Sky Sports this morning, Wilder was quick to put to bed any thoughts of the Blades making rash decisions in the transfer market.

"The budget is more than we had last year!" Wilder said.

"We're not going to change our identity. The recruitment is massive for us we can't afford many mistakes.

Wilder is expected to spend big sums this summer in comparison to what the club has spent in recent seasons, but Wilder was also quick to show his faith in the members of the current squad, citing some of the stories within his team as inspiration.

"We got David McGoldrick on a free from Ipswich, Enda Stevens was free, John Fleck was free, Oliver Norwood has got three promotions in three years. There's some brilliant stories in the squad and I want to make sure they get an opportunity as well." he added.

The Blades' current transfer record stands at around £4m, fees they have paid for John Egan last year and James Beattie some years back. It is expected that the Blades will break that record over the summer as they look to strengthen ahead of what is bound to be a tough campaign for the Bramall Lane outfit.
