Chris Wilder has confirmed that Sheffield United have no fresh injury concerns heading into Friday’s clash with Bristol City, reports BBC Radio Sheffield’s, Jonathan Buchan.

Sheffield United welcome Bristol City to Bramall Lane on Friday for an eagerly anticipated contest between two of the Sky Bet Championship’s high-flying sides.

However, the Blades enter the contest in worrying form, having not picked up a victory in their last three fixtures, losing two of them, including last weekend’s clash with Millwall, a defeat that opened the door for Bristol City to leapfrog Wilder’s side in the Championship table.

Wilder has confirmed to Buchan that Sheffield United have no fresh injury concerns heading into Friday’s contest, but provided a positive update on George Baldock, confirming that the defender was edging closer to a first-team return.

Baldock picked up a calf injury in October’s defeat to Queens Park Rangers, which has ruled the 24-year-old out of action for the entire November schedule, as the Blades’ automatic promotion hopes took a serious hit.

The Blades will enter Friday’s clash level on points with Bristol City in third, but the duo trail Cardiff City, who sit second, by six points.

The Verdict

With the blow of not having Paul Coutts available, any positive injury news is well received at Bramall Lane now.

Baldock has been missed, as his availability at right wing-back allows Chris Basham to move back into a central area, which will help the Blades in Coutts’ absence.

Whether Baldock will be risked this weekend remains to be seen, but with Sheffield United in desperate need of three points, Wilder could be pushing the 24-year-old.
