Middlesbrough boss Chris Wilder has said he thinks Boro are an attractive prospect to potential signings this summer.

Wilder's side missed out on a play-off place on the final day of the Championship season and will be looking to strengthen their squad in the summer in order to challenge for the play-offs, or more, next campaign.

Wilder believes Boro have everything to be a success.

“We’ve got the support, we’ve got the infrastructure and we’ve got the chairman. We’ve got knowledge and experience in the coaching team." Wilder explained via TeessideLive.

"I’ve been there before and done it, as the staff have. Now I’ve got to do the hard thing which is bringing the players in.

"In a way, it’s difficult, of course, but in a way, it's easy as well. I’m not saying we’re going to get it all done in one window, but I think we’ll attract some good players.

"I think players coming in will have seen what’s happened, the level of support we’ve had, 9,500 at Old Trafford, the cup games against Tottenham and Chelsea and the games on Sky where, at our best, this is an attractive club to come to."

Middlesbrough have certainly commanded great support this season, both at home at the Riverside Stadium, and away from home too.

Continuing on Boro's summer plans, Wilder explained that the club have already spoken to some good players about joining the club when the window opens.

"We’ve already spoken to some good players about coming and there are some good targets that we’ve got too." Wilder added.

"We won't get them all, but I’ll do my best to attract some really good players - and players with good attitudes as well.

"Attitude over ability because the mentality of the group is key for me now. The culture of the football club is key for me now."

The Verdict

It doesn't sound as though Wilder is getting too downbeat after Middlesbrough missed out on a play-off place.

Plans are firmly in motion for the summer to strengthen his Boro squad in order to ensure they do not miss out again next campaign.

Next season is certainly one Boro fans can look forward to in that sense.

New additions and a full season under Wilder could lead to an exciting 2022/23.
