Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder reckons that there's a lot more to come from Ben Woodburn as the teenager gets to grips with his new club.

The 18-year old Wales international joined the Blades in the summer on a season-long loan from Liverpool and it was seen as a real coup for the Yorkshire side given Woodburn's reputation at Anfield.

However, he has had to be patient so far, with the youngster only starting once so far this season, whilst he was an unused substitute in the 4-1 win against Aston Villa last time out.

Yet, Wilder told the Sheffield Star that he's been pleased with Woodburn's contribution and thinks there's more to come as he settles in his new surroundings.

"He's doing well and he's been a big part in the results we've achieved so far. He's got a great attitude, he's a really good professional and he's fitted in really well to the group."

"This is probably the first time he's been involved day in day out so that was bound to take some adjusting too. Everything was factored in when the decision was made, by everyone involved, and we're really encouraged by how he's doing."

The Verdict

This is clever management from Wilder as he wants to ensure Woodburn doesn't lose confidence despite barely featuring in the past two games.

He has only shown flashes of his brilliance this season but as Wilder states, it's a new environment for the player and it will take time.

Over the course of the campaign he will become an important player and could make a big contribution to their play-of push.
