Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder has spoken candidly about what he expects of on loan Liverpool forward Ben Woodburn.

The Welsh youngster has fallen out of favour in recent weeks, struggling to even make the first XI, but Wilder has insisted that it is the same for Woodburn as it is for any player, and that he has to earn his place in the starting line up.

Speaking to United's official website, Wilder spoke highly of Wooburn, but said it was down to the 18-year-old to break into the team.

Wilder said he is 'in constant dialogue' with Liverpool about his progression, insisting the Premier League giants are happy with him, and said that this could be a big learning curve for Woodburn, citing it as potentially the first set-back that the youngster will have experienced in his career.

Woodburn has made sporadic appearances for United this term but with the Blades flying high at the top of the Championship, chances in the first XI are hard to come by, especially up front, as David McGoldrick and Billy Sharp continue to impress.

The Liverpool youngster will be hoping to come back following the international break with a point to prove, and will be hoping to be given his chance by Wilder in the busy winter schedule.
