Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder insists he won't be getting carried away despite the Blades fantastic season so far.

A thumping 4-0 success over Reading on Saturday moved Wilder's men into second position and automatic promotion seems like a real possibility this season.

However, the boyhood Blades fan was quoted by the official site as saying that there will be a lot of twists and turns in the coming months and that the team shouldn't get caught up in what their rivals are doing.

"There are going to be some high moments, like we've enjoyed at Bramall Lane in the last week or so, but there will be lows like at Villa Park.

"We deserved to be in our position, but we have to look at the next game and keep going. I can't affect anyone else or their results, we have to focus on ourselves."

The Yorkshire side face a huge game this weekend as they make the trip to the West Midlands to take on West Brom, with Darren Moore's side fourth in the Championship.

The Verdict

This is a very sensible message from Wilder and everyone connected to the club should take note of what he says.

Of course, it's difficult not to get carried away when the side are flying, as the Blades are, but the manager clearly recognises there is a long way to go.

It's about maintaining the high standards they've set and picking up results but there's a lot of football to be played yet.
