Chris Wilder has reiterated Sheffield United’s stance over David Brooks, insisting that the Welshman will not be sold during the January transfer window, as reported by The Sheffield Star’s, James Shield.

Brooks has burst onto the scene at Bramall Lane this season, with the 20-year-old establishing himself in the first-team on the Blades’ return to the Sky Bet Championship.

There has been plenty of speculation surrounding Brooks’ future, with reports suggesting a host of Premier League clubs could be in the hunt to sign him after such a strong impact in the Championship.

However, Wilder has once again insisted that Brooks will not be going anywhere this month.

Brooks has made 19 Championship appearances under Wilder this season, scoring two goals and registering three assists, helping the Blades into top-six contention and in with a shout of recording back-to-back promotions.

The midfielder’s form over the course of the last six months has also seen him make Wales’ senior squad, with Chris Coleman handing Brooks an international debut back in November.

Brooks hasn’t featured since early December due to glandular fever, but Wilder has confirmed that the youngster is making good progress, but didn’t draw on when he would return.

The Verdict

Brooks is Sheffield United’s biggest asset, and to hear Wilder in a confident mood about keeping him at the club will please the club’s supporters.

The Blades are far from reliant on Brooks, but in time, he is sure to develop into a phenomenal player who is destined for the top-flight.

Keeping him at Bramall Lane will be a huge boost for the Blades.
