Chris Wilder bemoans Sheffield United defending following Millwall draw

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder could not hide his disappointment following his side’s 1-1 draw with Millwall this afternoon at Bramall Lane.

The Blades boss saw his team take the lead with 15 minutes to play when Leon Clarke once again notched, only to see his team chuck away the three points almost immediately as Steve Morison raced onto a long ball over the top and fired in to make it 1-1.

And speaking to the Sheffield Star’s James Shield following the game, manager Wilder could hide from the fact that he thinks his defence should have done better.

‘It was one straight ball from their lad, and we should have seen it comingsaid Wilder.

It was a bitter pill to swallow for Wilder and United, who had worked hard to get their noses in front in what was an intense affair at the Lane between two sides gunning for the top six in the Championship.

A point will be more welcomed by Millwall, but United remain in with a shout of the playoff spots going into their final three games, and the Blades boss Wilder will surely not allow his players to rest on what has been an excellent season so far.

Blades fans, what do you think? Was 1-1 a fair result? Let us know in the comments!
