Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder has appeared to turn up the heat on Ipswich Town after admitting to the Sheffield Star that a bid is on the table and he will 'leave it there' for the Tractor Boys to consider.

The Blades manager was keen to make no secret of the fact that his club are interested and have made a bid for the former Ipswich forward, who scored 16 goals last season for the Tractor Boys.

Wilder said United had 'put something to' Ipswich, and that he and his board would be 'leaving it there' to see what Ipswich make of it.

However, Wilder did confirm that the figures he has been reading, in the range of £8-10m are wide of the mark, and said if that is the case, the deal 'won't be happening'.

The Blades broke their transfer record last week when they completed the signing of John Egan, and the signing of Waghorn would represent another record fee, with the Blades looking to splash some cash following the big money sale of David Brooks to Bournemouth last month.

United finished tenth last season, and Wilder is keen to supplement the likes of Billy Sharp and Leon Clarke with the addition of a proven Championship striker like Waghorn.

Blades fans, what do you think? Will you sign Waghorn? Let us know in the comments!
