Charlton Athletic favourite Chris Powell has taken to Twitter to open up on the "fairytale ending" to his time as an Addicks player.
The defender made more than 200 appearances across three separate spells for the club and would later return as manager.
Powell's last appearance for the south London club came on as a substitute against Coventry City in the last game of the 2007/08 season.
Despite spending the majority of his career as a left-back, the Englishman was brought on in midfield and grabbed a goal in front of the Covered End at the Valley.
Powell burst into the box and latched onto a long throw, putting his effort past Kasper Schmeichel to secure a 4-1 win over Coventry.
On the 12th anniversary of the goal, Charlton posted a clip of "The Addicks legend" discussing his goal and yesterday he provided a response, opening up on the "fairytale ending" it provided him with.
Powell scored just four goals in his entire club career, so to grab one after coming on as a substitute in his farewell to the Valley was a special moment.
The 50-year-old returned to Charlton as manager three years later and helped them get promoted to the Championship as champions of League One in 2012.
