Derby County striker Chris Martin says him and his team-mates were ‘gutted’ in the dressing room after their defeat in the Sky BET Championship Play-Off Final against Queens Park Rangers at Wembley on Saturday.
The 25 goal of the season striker said ”We’re gutted in that dressing room but I think we need to take the positives out of it. I thought we put on a good performance but obviously the only thing missing was a goal, but we didn’t quite get the little bit of fortune that we needed.”
”’It’s massively disappointing but congratulations to QPR, they battled very hard and defended for their lives and managed to nick it. That’s football sometimes.” Martin added.
Derby lost in the 90th minute from a Bobby Zamora strike that saw it look like a smash and grab from Rangers, as the Rams took control for the most of the game.
”It’s even more disappointing to lose it in that way. A few of the QPR lads came up at the end and said that it was daylight robbery almost. But that’s football sometimes.” The 25 year old said.
