Chris Hughton has explained his decision to leave both Loic Mbe Soh and Alex Mighten out of the Nottingham Forest squad at the weekend.

Both players have found regular game time hard to come by this season, and were left out of the squad which travelled to Reading on Saturday afternoon.

Mbe Soh was brought in from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer, but has also made two appearances for the Reds since joining the club.

Both of those appearances came under Sabri Lamouchi, with the Frenchman yet to break into the team ahead of Joe Worrall, Tobias Figueiredo and Scott McKenna.

Mighten, meanwhile, has made five appearances for Forest this season, but again, is yet to feature under Chris Hughton.

The young winger was a key player under Lamouchi, but has been unable to break into the team despite Forest's goalscoring woes.

After both players were left out of the squad on Saturday, Chris Hughton explained his decision to leave the pair out.

Speaking to Nottinghamshire Live, he said: "It was just using the squad and the options I’ve got on the bench. It was just down to numbers.”

The Verdict

Mbe Soh and Mighten may be raw talents with potential, but at this moment in time, you feel that Forest need a bit of experience.

It would be slightly risky to play the two young players as Forest are slowly creeping towards a relegation dog-fight.

Mighten would be a great option off the bench, though, and when defences are tiring, his pace and direct-running could be key.
