Chris Hughton moved to provide an update on injured midfielder Jack Colback following Nottingham Forest's goalless draw with Watford last night.

Colback has been a regular for Forest since re-joining the club on a free transfer in the summer, making 13 starts in the Championship since the beginning of the season.

The midfielder came off injured in Sunday's home defeat to Swansea City, though, after being hacked down from behind as they looked to counter from a corner.

Colback was missing on Wednesday night, and was seen at the ground on crutches with a protective boot on his foot following the challenge on Sunday.

Speaking after the game, Hughton revealed that Colback is "likely" to be out for "weeks", and his injury will be assessed over the next couple of days.

FLW's George Harbey was live at the press conference, where Hughton said: "Jack is feeling sore. It will probably be determined over the next couple of days how long he will be out for. That's certainly likely to be weeks."

The Verdict:

This is a blow for Forest.

Colback, after a slow start to the season, had recently been getting back to his best for Forest. He was breaking up play nicely, and he was getting fitter and stronger as games went on.

Last night, Ryan Yates played in the holding midfield role and did a sound job, but I think Colback is probably the best midfielder Forest have in terms of recycling the ball and sitting in front of the back four.
