Chris Hughton says he has “kept tabs” on the likes of Nicholas Ioannou, Joao Carvalho and Nuno da Costa’s performances this season.
The trio have spent this season away from the City Ground, with Ioannou being sent out on loan to Aris Thessaloniki in January having failed to make an impact under Hughton.
Carvalho and da Costa were both moved out before Hughton arrived at the club, though, with the pair joining Almeria and Royal-Excel Mouscron respectively.
Almeria and Mouscron both have options to buy the aforementioned duo, with many fans eager to see what the future holds for the Reds’ club-record signing Carvalho.
Are these 17 facts about Nottingham Forest’s club badge true or false?
With Jordan Gabriel, Brennan Johnson and Tyrese Fornah all thriving on loan in League One with Blackpool, Lincoln and Plymouth respectively, the trio will return to the City Ground and look to impress in pre-season.
As for Ioannou, Carvalho and da Costa, this also looks to be the same case. Speaking to Nottinghamshire Live, Hughton said: “I have kept tabs on them.
“Because of our schedule, what I haven’t been able to do is visually watch the amount of games on tape as I would like to.
“But I’m fully up to speed on their performances and games they’re playing.
“All of them will come into our thinking over the next few weeks and couple of months, as regards what we want to do come the summer and next season.
“But I am very conscious of all of those who are contracted to this club that in theory will be with us on the first day of pre-season, unless otherwise.”
Hughton can’t really say much else at the moment, particularly regarding Carvalho and da Costa.
The two players were moved out before he was Forest manager, and if Almeria and Mouscron want to active the buy options, then Forest cannot say anything.
I personally think those ships sailed a long time ago, and I would find it very surprising if Carvalho was to return to the City Ground and pull on a Garibaldi shirt again.
