Brighton and Hove Albion manager Chris Hughton has highlighted the Elland Road crowd as something his side have to be wary of when they face Leeds United this weekend, reports the club’s official website.
The Seagulls travel to Leeds for a vital clash in the race for promotion, knowing victory will see Hughton’s side move 14-points clear of the Whites, effectively ending their automatic promotion hopes.
Hughton’s team are currently level on points with Newcastle United at the top of the Sky Bet Championship table, while Garry Monk’s Leeds are fourth, and looking to rescue their top-two ambitions.
Although Brighton are 11-points better off than Leeds, Hughton is anticipating a difficult test at Elland Road, he told seagulls.co.uk: “They have a way of playing that’s been very good on the eye, and they have some very good individuals. Those are the things we have to be guarded against, instead of just one particular aspect of their game.
“It’s always a difficult place (Elland Road) and they create a magnificent atmosphere there. That’s something that we’ll have to be aware of and will have to cope with.”
Victory for Hughton’s side will seem them at the very least maintain their place alongside Newcastle at the summit of the table, but with their clash against Leeds taking place at 17:30, there could be the extra incentive of moving above the Magpies, if Rafa Benitez’s side drop points earlier in the day.
