Sheffield United defender Chris Basham has taken to Instagram to share a message ahead of the club's clash with Luton Town this afternoon.

The Blades will be looking to get back to winning ways in this particular fixture after being held to a 2-2 draw by Preston North End earlier this week.

Paul Heckingbottom's side were seemingly on course to seal all three points in this showdown after Jaden Bogle and Billy Sharp scored in the first-half.

However, despite the fact that Preston were reduced to ten-men at Deepdale following Andrew Hughes' dismissal, they managed to produce a comeback thanks to goals from Alan Browne and Emil Riis.

Currently nine points adrift of the play-off places in the Championship, the Blades simply have to pick up victories on a regular basis in the coming weeks if they are to have any chance of securing a top-six finish later this year.

Set to play in-front of their supporters at Bramall Lane today, United will be determined to produce a memorable display against Luton.

Ahead of this clash, Basham has taken to Instagram to share a message with the club's fans.

The defender posted: "Back at the lane this weekend together, let's go."

The Verdict

If United are to secure a morale-boosting victory over Luton today, they will need Basham to be at his very best as their opponents have scored in five of their last six league games.

In the 17 league fixtures that the defender has featured in for the Blades this season, he has managed to make 2.1 tackles per game and produce 2.6 clearances per fixture (as per WhoScored).

Currently averaging a WhoScored match rating (6.90) which has only been bettered by one of his team-mates (Morgan Gibbs-White) over the course of the current campaign, Basham will be confident in his ability to produce an assured display against the Hatters.

Providing that the Blades are able to seal all three points this afternoon, they could potentially use the momentum gained from this result to climb the Championship standings in the coming weeks.
