United seem to have turned a corner in recent weeks, finding the net far more frequently in their last few matches, Basham has been a crucial cog in the Blades' remarkable rise in recent years and will be hoping to force his way back into the starting XI in the coming weeks.

Slavisa Jokanovic, in contrast to others' opinions, is sticking to a back four system with John Egan and Ben Davies as first choice centre backs, despite his age, Basham will not be resting on his laurels as a squad player and will be desperate to show the new manager that he can be part of the club's promotion push this season.

They welcome Wayne Rooney's Derby County to Bramall Lane as firm favourites on Saturday.

The Verdict

Basham is a fans' favourite at Sheffield United, his industry, endeavour and positive attitude has been a theme of the club's rise from League One in the last few seasons.

Ben Davies is currently keeping him out of the team, on loan from Liverpool, but Basham will still be an important part of the first team with his experience in the dressing room and coming on to impact games in the closing exchanges.

If Jokanovic does switch to a back three system this season Basham is sure to be heavily involved with many still tipping the Blades to finish in the top six despite taking some time to settle back into the second tier.
