Chelsea are set to step up their interest in Brentford ace Said Benrahma, according to reports from La Gazette du Fennec.

The 24-year-old has been a hugely influential player for Brentford since arriving from Nice last summer, scoring 21 goals in 79 appearances for the Bees.

This season, the Algerian playmaker has played a key role in helping Brentford fight for automatic promotion from the Championship and mount a push for a top-six finish.

Have Brentford done these 15 things in the last 10 years?

The creative midfielder has scored 10 goals and chipped in with eight assists across all competitions this season; with 21 goals and 25 assists across two seasons for Brentford, he's clearly a talent.

Benrahma is likely to be a man in-demand this summer, especially if Brentford fall short in their bid for promotion to the Premier League.

Chelsea have been heavily linked with Benrahma for some time now, and La Gazette du Fennec now claim that Chelsea are set to accelerate their plans to sign Benrahma.

Brentford will be obviously reluctant to lose their talisman this summer, and the report claims that Thomas Frank's side will hold out for around €30-35m for his signature.

The Verdict

Benrahma is an exceptionally-gifted player and he would undoubtedly cut it in the Premier League.

With another two years left on his deal in West London, Brentford don't have any reason to sell their star-man, especially not on the cheap, so Chelsea will need to splash the cash on the winger.

Whilst this may be seen as a bit of a risk for Chelsea, Benrahma is an exciting player who will desperate to test himself in the top-flight.
