According to the Sun, Chelsea are set to sign Crewe Alexandra whizz-kid George Nunn after he has caught the eye with sensational progression in the Railwaymen's youth set-up.

Nunn bagged over 20 goals for the U16 side at Crewe before moving up to the U18 side earlier this year where he continued his goal-scoring exploits.

He scored a double on his debut for the older group and now, still at the age of 16, he looks set to link up with one of the biggest clubs in Europe.

Crewe, of course, have got a good record of producing young players and seeing them move on whilst Chelsea are also well-known for taking on young players en masse and offering them the chance to progress.

He'll link up with the Blues' U18 side providing the predicted deal goes through and then he'll have the task of working his way up towards the first team which, though possible, has proven tough for many at Stamford Bridge.

The Verdict

It's an exciting time for Nunn and undoubtedly a big step forward in his young career.

He's clearly got an eye for goal and it remains to be seen now whether he can adapt to his new surroundings and make an impression.

Certainly, he'll want to try and avoid going off to Vitesse Arnhem as so many young Blues players end up doing.
